The place was great- exactly as advertised. I couldn't have asked for a better location and lodging. And Orissa couldn't have been more helpful. It would not have been as great of a vacation without her assistance. She helped me so much.
That said traveling internationally in 2021-2022 is not for the faint of heart. So stressful. Shots, tests, then more tests, interrogation about tests and shots, airport lines and confusion, etc. Once we got to Dover, it was perfect.
Thank you for everything. I hope to be back.
A stunning apartment with amazing views and in a great
location. Hosts were excellent with loads of helpful tips and arranging
Transport. Loads of really good restaurants nearby on the Gap. 2 good beaches
within 5 minutes walk: Dover beach is great with big waves which I would say
make unsuitable for young children in the sea. Worthing’s is a lot calmer.
Prepare to be woken in the main bedroom each morning by the Sea crashing in.
There isn’t really a tide in Barbados so it’s constant on rocks outside. I
loved it but some people could find it annoying.
Absolutely beautiful place and the condo building could not be better situated. Walk- out to the beach & pool, and in an area surrounded by restaurants & bars. I would love to come back again!
Top class apartment. The views from the balcony were amazing. Thank you for our lovely stay in your apartment. We would most definitely return again; we loved it.
We stayed with two other couples at this beautiful house from February 24-March 10, 2022. (Travel tip here: as we were booking our trip we discovered that instead of traveling Saturday to Saturday, that by moving our dates Thursday to Thursday, the airline tickets were so much less that for just $200 more per couple we were able to stay two weeks instead of one. There was no "wave of despair" six days into our stay that we usually feel on one-week vacations!). My goodness, we were happy that we were able to book our stay starting on Thursday. Communication by AirBNB messaging and by phone (Jameela, Orissa, and Kiana) before and during our stay was excellent. Transportation from the airport was easy having been arranged by our host prior to our arrival. A five passenger car is available for rental with the house for a very reasonable rate but there were six of us so we used a taxi all week (Charl and Charlene: 246-231-9447).
Entrance to the property is protected by an electric gate for which we had a gate opener. There are three sets of keys - house and gate locks; the house is very secure. The washer and dryer are outside, the door is through the kitchen. Jameela and Kiana made sure we had everything we needed.
Barbados speaks for itself.
Specifically about this house, it is very spacious with three "living areas" inside and two outside plus a beautiful garden. The kitchen is well stocked with everything we needed. Large TV with cable and internet TV (Apple, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.) There is a covered porch with ample seating where we ate all the meals we prepared. We all love to cook. Farmer's market just across the street from Rascals on Saturday mornings has great fresh produce and eggs. It is a relatively short walk, uphill, to Carlton's Supermarket. We bought lots of fresh fish at the fish market (the one toward Bridgetown also has lots of vegetable/produce stands) where they prepare it however you like (we had it all filleted). Our favorites were fried flying fish and grilled/blackened mahi-mahi (they call it dolphin). There are great restaurants on the island that will deliver to the house if you want. Upstairs there is a very large covered porch with a porch swing, lots of seating, and a wet bar with a little refrigerator. The bedrooms are air-conditioned, the beds very comfortable. Water in Barbados is filtered through limestone/coral and pumped up from subterranean aquifers and is as pure as what you get in bottles. All the beaches in Barbados are public, however, the beach outside the back gate of our fence was "ours" the whole two weeks we were there. The hosts have recommendations in the welcome book and there is a hardcover book that inside has 4 pages of all the attractions on the island with hours, phone numbers, etc.
We loved our stay at Banyan Beach House Villa.
Great location with pool and sea view. Large bedrooms, one opening out onto the pool area and the other with its own balcony. There was plenty of living space and balcony. The building was close to shops and restaurants.
We stayed in the cottage for a week and really enjoyed the lovely spacious and clean accommodation and found it a peaceful place to relax. The beach is fantastic - quiet and expansive. There is a supermarket within 10 minutes walk and we also walked into Bridgetown for the Saturday market at Cheapside. Rascals Beach Bar is only 5 minutes walk for sun loungers, cold beverages and decent bar food. We will certainly be back!
Such a dreamy location! It is directly on one of the most beautiful beaches, the backyard is gorgeous with amazing flowers and very cool wildlife to see. The studio is lovely with a very comfortable bed, nice bathroom, very good closet space, great kitchen, and comfy cozy couch for two for watching a movie. Such a gem, can't wait to return!
Due to some obstacles, my friend and I were in urgent need of a place to stay. This host had accepted us without delay & had shown nothing but kindness during & after our stay. A beautiful place to stay with a combo of accommodating property managers and host, which made the trip worthwhile. Definitely looking at staying with my girlfriend in the future.
The Hummingbird is perfectly located, being a short (easy)
walk away from one of the best beaches on the west coast and one the most
popular restaurants (The Lonestar). With access to a beach club and a private
pool you can choose to lounge in comfort either by the sea or in the glorious
garden complete with hummingbirds. The house itself is both beautiful and
practical with plenty of storage space and various spaces to relax. It also has
one of the largest and most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. Our holiday
was pure escapism from the UK winter. We would thoroughly recommend The
Hummingbird - especially if you prefer to have the flexibility of having the
option to make your own meals and enjoy the extra space a house has to offer.
